Therapy
You may think about therapy if your child is struggling to cope with emotions or need help to managing certain behaviours. Perhaps your child with ADHD needs help with anxiety or getting through a daily routine. Or your autistic daughter was referred for help with social skills. Your child with learning support needs might not believe in themselves anymore, or your highly sensitive child is easily overstimulated and you don’t know how to help. Therapy is a safe to help understand your child better and equip them with tools at their level to help them thrive. Therapy is not about forcing your child to be someone they are not, but about building on their strengths and filling the gaps where needed.
Assessments
You may think about an assessment if your child is not coping at school or in everyday life. For example, your child may be bright but failing at school, or his teachers have concerns about potential learning difficulties. Your daughter may struggle to read, or your son may avoid even picking up a pencil to draw. Perhaps the preschool teacher has alerted you to some developmental concerns and you need help figuring out what support they might need. Assessments can help you understand your child’s strengths and needs and give you clear recommendations on how to help. The results are not about labelling children, but about figuring out what your child needs.

Please note that this is a strictly cash practice. Payment must be settled on the day of consultation – card payments also accepted. Claims are directly submitted on behalf of Discovery members only – members of other medical aid schemes must settle in cash and claim back from their schemes. Important note: fees may be higher than medical aid rates and may be asked to pay a co-payment.
